Ashburn Family Scrapbooking Center NEWS Dear Family Members, AFSC has had FIVE wonderful years of crafting with all of you and there are some special things we would like to share. Our Sale-a-bration was a blast and 15 lucky ducks went home with great raffle prizes from Technique Tuesday and My Minds Eye. Many girls took the time to crop during our sale which is all ways a good time due to the crazy savings. AFSC has this anniversary sale every year in order to make room for the new product from the Craft and Hobby Show in February. The goodies usually begin arrival in late March. However,....We have been SO BUSY in the past year that is nearly impossible to keep up with all the classes, events and exciting things there are to do! Oppertunity has come knocking on our door recently and our friendly neighboorhood store has been sold to an out of state store! Therefore, allthough March will be filled with classes and crops our doors will close March 31st. So,...Given that bit of news, PLEASE: redeem your gift certificates if you were lucky enough to get one. PLEASE: Use your store credits. PLEASE: be aware that purchases from now on will be non-returnable. and PLEASE stop by to say hello and farewell. It's been a great five years, thank you! Kely and Peter Davis and the AFSC Staff

Ashburn Family Scrapbooking Center

Greetings! Holy Smokes January is whizzing by! All sorts of things are happening in the neighborhood and keeping up is a challenge. First we would like to say goodbye to all our good friends at Recollections. We are sad they are leaving us. Their helpfulness and great crop room will be sorely missed by everyone. Let's make sure we stay in touch with their staff as they move on to Scrapbooks Plus, Angela's Happy Stamper and Ashburn Family Scrapbooking Center. News for February - Get Croppin', our local cropping event group has a huge event coming up from the 15th to the 18th. Family Scrapbooking will be only marginally open during this time, so please be aware of this. If you need anything you will be able to find us at the Dulles Expo Center and we can bring things back from there for you. Newsletter from Creative Imaginations! Look what Danelle Johnson wrote about your Creative Cafe!

While visiting Creative Cafe retailers in the Washington, DC area we uncovered some great ideas that make it easier for customers to shop the Cafe.

Kely Davis at Ashburn Family Scrapbook Center has discovered some great ways to make it fun and easy for her customers to create Creative Cafe projects. AFSC sets out serving trays customers can carry with them as they shop the Creative Cafe... laying out their project as they go. This helps customers 'see' their projects come to life and gives them the confidence to purchase just what they need. This helps customers really see how the words will look on their page or other project!

Great to the last bit! Have you wondered what happens with the little Happy Hour extras or Recipe Card leftovers Danelle Johnson discovered this great idea while visiting Ashburn Family Scrapbook Center in November. Owner Kely Davis separates the leftover elements, stickers for example, into individual items and puts them in a bin on the Art Bar marked with a single price, like $0.25. It's a great way grab a little something special!

Projects to go!

Sometimes, especially during the holidays, it's hard for customers to find the time to sit down and take classes or do make-and-take or Art Bar projects at the store. So - try this great idea. Package up Happy Hour projects and sell them as take-home, do-it-yourself kits!

To all Croptober Fest Participants Ashburn Family Scrapbooking Center wishes to thank all of you who donated your time and scrapbooking efforts to Croptober Fest ’07. There were 19 scrapbookers who gave their time and carried on from 7pm through the night until 4:00 pm the next day to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Some of our scrappers were only 12 years old and ranged from advanced to beginner crafters. We enjoyed many make and takes, watched scary movies and had lots of treats and games. Through it all we raised $1,400.00 to donate to the MDA in the Greater Washington Area! Those of you who pledged, thank you. Perhaps you can join us next year!
